Stan Baker, a plaintiff in the 1997 lawsuit to legalize civil unions for same-sex couples in Vermont, and longterm collector of Barbie dolls with husband Peter Harrigan (both profiled in Eva Sollberger’s “Stuck in Vermont” documentary series), has died of a heart attack. He was 79.
Reports MSN.com:
“Stan has always been there for others,” former Lt. Gov. David Zuckerman said in a social media post. “He was a kind and thoughtful soul who just brought a peaceful energy into whatever space he was in.”
Baker died while he and his husband Peter Harrigan were visiting Louisville, Kentucky [last summer]. The couple was attending a Barbie convention, “one of the many communities that he participated in and loved,” Harrigan said about Baker in a social media post.
In regular life, Baker was a private practice clinician who worked with children, adults and families. He also served as an archdeacon for the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont.
