Provincetown, MA

With 70º water and a strong SW headwind facing swimmers along the East End shoreline of Provincetown Harbor, the Swim for Life welcomed 349 swimmers and raised record funds for AIDS, women’s health and 13 nonprofits. Fifty of the swimmers swam in Wellfleet’s Great Pond freshwater Swim. Boston’s LANES swimmers and Wellesley High School girl’s swim team participated along with swimmers from across the country and from Bulgaria. All joined a warm and supportive community coming together to help organizations facing radical cuts in federal funding. Says Swim founder and director Jay Critchley, “Provincetown is a beacon of light in a darkening landscape. We are grateful.”More: swim4life.org
