First initiated by EqualityMaine five years ago, the Governor’s Pride Garden Party is now organized by Governor Mills’s staff. This year’s fête once again included activist and advocate groups, elected officials and some members of the governor’s cabinet, as well as the secretary of state, attorney general and other members of the LGBTQ+ community. This year, the event included Richard Blanco, who read his poem “Until We Could,” as well as remarks from author and professor Jenny Finney Boylen.
