Boston Mayor Michelle Wu joined hundreds of LGBTQ+ community members, allies and city officials to cheer on the raising of the LGBTQ+ Progress flag over Boston City Hall at the start of Pride month. “It is amazing to feel the energy, joy and pride as we kick off this celebration,” Mayor Wu told the crowd. On her website, she said, “Today, on City Hall Plaza, we proudly raised the Pride flag honoring that courage, and recommitted to building a city where being yourself doesn’t require bravery. Where our LGBTQ+ residents are not just accepted, but protected, supported and celebrated.”
