In observance of the 25th anniversary of Transgender Day of Remembrance, community members came together at the Rita Hester mural on Cambridge St. in Allston for speeches, performances and to honor trans, nonbinary and gender nonconforming people lost to violence. In attendence were Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and other leaders as well as members of Rita’s family. Funds were raised for The Transgender Emergency Fund and the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Organizers included the Massachusetts Trans Political Coalition, Trans Resistance MA, Chastity Bowick Consulting & Talent Group, the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and the Transgender Emergency Fund.
