For the 24th annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner, GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) celebrated 20 years of marriage equality by honoring the plaintiffs who won the landmark Goodridge ruling that made Massachusetts the first state in the country where same-sex couples could legally wed. Dee Deidre Farmer, renowned prisoner rights advocate, also shared the powerful story of her case that changed the discourse around prisoners’ right to protection from violence. Attendees raised over $700,000, unlocking a $50,000 matching gift, and added 26 new members to GLAD’s Equal Justice Council to support GLAD’s work creating justice for all. More: glad.org
