Maine Governor Janet Mills declared the month of June Pride Month in Maine in her visit to Ogunquit’s Pride flag-raising event. “I am proud of the progress we have made in recent years, but I know that LGBTQ people are still experiencing horrific acts of violence and historic efforts to roll back their rights,” Gov. Mills told the gathering. “Things are hard right now, but they have been hard before. We know how to recover from the setbacks, how to be resilient, how to keep walking the long road towards full equality. I am proud to walk hand in hand with the LGBTQ community on that road, always.”
