On Jan. 5, former Mass. Attorney General Maura Healey was officially sworn in as the Bay State’s first elected woman and openly LGBTQ governor — and the first lesbian governor to be elected in the United States. After the swearing-in ceremony, Gov. Healey and newly elected Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll held an evening celebration at TD Garden. “Moving the Ball Forward” was the theme, a nod to their time as college and professional basketball players and their history-making election. Six-time, openly LGBT Grammy Award-winner Brandi Carlile headlined the celebration and Boston Gay Men’s Chorus performed for their second gubernatorial inauguration fête.
