Hundreds of community members from across the state came together to celebrate the Grand Opening Block Party & Campaign Kick-Off of the Equality Community Center in downtown Portland, Maine. The ECC is a hub for 10 LGBTQ+ and allied social justice nonprofits and a resource center for Maine’s queer community. Speakers included Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau, Portland City Councilor Andrew Zarro, Norway Savings Bank President and CEO Dan Walsh, plus leaders of ECC tenant organizations. Gia Drew of EqualityMaine, Maya Williams of MaineTransNet and Deqa Dhalac of Cross Cultural Community Services joined members of the ECC Founder’s Circle and board to cut the ribbon.
