Breaktime, the Massachusetts-based nonprofit working to break the cycle of young adult homelessness through employment, announced the launch of the first phase of their statewide expansion with an event at Lamplighter Brewing Co. The expansion is funded in part by an historic $1 million grant from the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. Breaktime is working strategically to bring its model of supportive transitional employment for young adults experiencing housing insecurity across the state. The first phase is in partnership with the Metro North Workforce Board and includes Cambridge, Everett, Chelsea, Revere, Somerville and 15 other communities north of Boston.
