The Boston Celtics honored Boston Gay Basketball League founding member Marc Davino with the team’s Heroes Among Us Award at its 2021 Pride Night game, when the Celtics beat the Phoenix Suns 99 to 86. Davino has played all 26 seasons of the Boston Gay Basketball League and is a Hall of Famer in both Boston’s and the National Gay Basketball leagues. Pride Night highlights also included the playing of a PSA during the game, a specially made recording of the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus singing the National Anthem and plenty of Pride flags and Celtics Pride logos. Plus, the team partnered with Waltham House — the first group home for LGBTQ youth in New England — to host kids in a “virtual fan tunnel experience.”
