“Run for the Roses,” the sold-out, Kentucky Derby-themed 2016 benefit gala for Safe Homes, was attended by more than 220 people. This year’s People of Courage Award honorees included U.S. Rep. James McGovern; Linda Cavaioli, executive director YWCA of Central MA; Massachusetts State Senator Harriette Chandler; and Lori Wentworth, Griffin Sivret and Pagio Inc. This year’s annual event tripled the net earnings from the previous year in support of LGBTQ youths. Safe Homes is a program of The Bridge of Central Massachusetts, a human services agency headquartered in Worcester. It is the only program in the area which provides specialized services to LGBTQ youth.
