The Hispanic Black Gay Coalition in partnership with Greater Boston Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays hosted their first annual LGBTQ Youth Empowerment Conference for over 90 LGBTQ youth and allies of color under the age of 21. The conference started with a passionate keynote address from Dr. Ravi K. Perry who made headlines earlier this year when he was selected as the first openly gay President of a local NAACP chapter at the age of 28.The event was filled with community building and leadership development opportunities. Throughout the day attendees attended workshops on health and wellness, advocacy, college prep and success, and leadership. Workshops were led by MassEquality, Fenway Health, The Theater Offensive, and Renewal House, offering tangible steps for the students to stay involved as advocates and leaders.
