The always-outspoken, openly gay LGBTQ-trailblazing former US Congressman Barney Frank, who represented Massachusetts Fourth District from 1981 to 2013, has entered hospice care while preparing to release a new book criticizing Progressive Democrats.
As reported on msn.com:
Former Massachusetts congressman and liberal icon Barney Frank, 86, has entered hospice care at his Maine home as he battles congestive heart failure. While reflecting on his decades-long career, Frank is openly criticizing modern progressive Democrats for embracing policies he deems politically damaging. He plans to expand on these views in a forthcoming book, positioning his final chapter as both a personal and political reckoning.
Barney Frank confirmed to Politico that he has entered hospice care at his Ogunquit, Maine home, where he lives with his husband, as he copes with congestive heart failure. At 86, Frank said, “At some point, my heart’s just going to give out,” but emphasized he feels “very good — no pain, no discomfort.” Friends and colleagues note that while his health is declining, his mind remains sharp and engaged.
“At 86, I’ve made it longer than I thought. At some point, my heart’s just going to give out, and it’s reaching that stage. So I’m taking it easy at home and dealing with it by relaxing.”
