Some 230 intrepid swimmers plunged into the New Year (and Provincetown Harbor) from the Johnson Street parking lot at the eighth annual Polar Bear Plunge — a fundraising tradition that’s become a key event at Provincetown’s annual First Light celebration. This year, some $24,500 was raised for the Center for Coastal Studies, the highest to date and 10 percent higher than the previous record set in 2023. More: ptown.org
