Queer History Boston — the nonprofit formally known as The History Project — is seeking new members for its board of directors.
Queer History Boston (renamed from The History Project in 2025) is a community archives that has documented, preserved and shared histories of Greater Boston and New England’s LGBTQ+ communities since 1980. What started in 1980 as a small group of volunteers has grown into one of the largest LGBTQ+ community archives in the United States.
QHB’s board is the volunteer leadership body responsible for the health, direction and sustainability of the organization. Board members are active stewards of QHB — helping ensure the nonprofit continues to grow, stay accountable to our community and do meaningful work documenting, preserving and sharing local LGBTQ+ history.
QHB welcomes people across the full spectrum of board experience, from first-timers to seasoned directors, and they’re committed to supporting every member in deepening their practice. They especially encourage people of color and trans and gender nonconforming people to apply.
Applications are due soon: by July 17! Interviews will run throughout August, with the first board meeting in September.
