International Transgender Day of Visibility, March 31 — a time to celebrate transgender people and raise awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide — coincides this year with Easter Sunday, and here are two ways to observe TDOV at the opposite ends of the Bay State:
Transgender Day of Visibility Event, 6-9 p.m., Saturday, March 30 — Berkshire Community Coalition is partnering with Berkshire Pride to debut trans-focused interviews as part of the BQHP Oral History Project. Get to know and celebrate trans history-makers in our community, North Adams city councilor Ashley Shade, national entertainer JV Hampton-VanSant, Berkshire Trans Group founder Ray Garnett, and more.
Viewing and Q&A at Pride Office, 34 Depot St., Pittsfield followed by walk to City Hall, then convening at Hot Plate Brewing Co.
Trans Day of Fellowship Brunch, noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 31 — The Theater Offensive hosts this first-ever event featuring a Welcome, Check-in and Ki Ki from noon to 1:30 p.m.; a buffet brunch from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and TTO in Conversation: LIVE – Moderated by TTO Executive Director Giselle Byrd. This year, Trans Day of Visibility happens to fall on the same day as Easter. On a day surrounded by the theme of resurrection, we have decided to take this opportunity to resurrect the names of our siblings lost due to the senseless epidemic of violence towards trans folks, while simultaneously celebrating the joy of our lived experience and the resilience we carry to innovate movements and share our artistry.
