MassEquality, the Bay State-wide grassroots advocacy organization, announced 16 state bills they’re backing for the Bay State’s 2021–2022 legislative session. From transgender equality to protections for LGBTQ youth and seniors, they’ll be advocating for these key bills through education and outreach projects, and by providing testimony to legislative committees.
“We’ve adopted a list of bills that will directly impact the LGBTQIA+ Community,” said MassEquality Executive Director Tanya Neslusan. “While there are other worthy bills that we support, these are the bills that we found to be the most impactful to members of our community.”
The pro-LGBTQ bills cover health care; youth and elder services; education, including anti-bullying measures; parenting, foster care and adoption; updated gender ID options for state documents; protections for homeless youth and adults; guaranteed services and safety for incarcerated people; demographic data collection; and more.
A complete list of the bills and brief descriptions can be found on the MassEquality website “Legislative Agenda” web page.
