The LGBTQ Victory Fund, the national nonprofit dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, has endorsed Massachusetts State Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis for re-election to his third term as state representative.
Rep. Lewis, a Democrat who lives with his husband and children in Framingham, was elected for the office in 2016 and has proven to be a strong advocate for pro-LGBTQ legislation. He represents the Seventh Middlesex District (the town of Ashland and six of Framingham’s 18 precincts).
“Over the last three years, Jack has been a strong advocate for all of his constituents. He has used his previous work with hundreds of LGBTQ youth to successfully advocate for increases in HIV/AIDS funding and is a leading voice on Beacon Hill for LGBTQ rights and reproductive justice,” said Mayor Annise Parker, president and CEO of the LGBTQ Victory Fund in the endorsement.
Before that, Rep. Lewis served as founding executive director for OUT MetroWest, the Worcester-based organization supporting LGBTQ youth, and as assistant minister of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills.
“I am so grateful to again be supported by the LGBTQ Victory Fund in my upcoming re-election campaign,” Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis wrote in a press release this week. “The Fund has helped me to build strong connections with other LGBTQ leaders around the country and world, and I look forward to the ongoing partnership.”
Since 1991, Victory Fund has helped elect thousands of LGBTQ people to positions at all levels of government. These LGBTQ voices have made significant contributions to advancing equality for LGBTQ Americans – from passing non-discrimination laws to defeating amendments to ban marriage equality.
