Saturday, June 14, marks the fifth annual running of the Boston Theater Company’s Road of Rainbows—”the first athletic event of its kind in Massachusetts, where gender has no bounds,” describe event organizers. “At ROR, you be YOU and run for YOU with love, support, and a team cheering you on!”
Making the festivities even more festive, the Common shares the space that same day with Boston Pride for the People’s annual Pride parade and festival.
The Road of Rainbows is an inclusive event that is as much about running as it is about showing off your inner unicorn. All genders are welcome, and it is for LGBTQ+ people and supporters.
“This will be one of the only races where you don’t have to check off if you’re male or female. A lot of queer people don’t identify with the binary,” said race organizer and BTC producing artistic director Joey Frangieh said when his company first trotted out the event In 2021. “Boston is such a sporty, athletic city and that’s awesome, but it’s long overdue for an all-inclusive event.”
Bib numbers are $40. BTC is committed to transparent pricing, so they’re offering Subsidized $30 and True Cost $55 tickets. They rely on their patrons’ honesty to choose the ticket that best serves them.
BTC is also committed to making this event economically inclusive, so anyone who cannot afford a ticket can email assistant@bostontheater.org to receive a ticket for free.
