Get ready for an enchanting yet radical reimagining of famous fairy tales. This bold new ballet by BIPOC- and queer-led Abilities Dance Boston dismantles the ableist tropes that are prevalent in many of the stories that first shaped our impressionable young minds. Instead of perpetuating narratives that othered disability and associated it with villains, “Tales From the Crips” positively centers intersectional identities through iconic characters. Think: a gay Snow White with a disabled comrade, a queer Sleeping Beauty with long COVID, and a disabled Cinderella who loses her shoe on inaccessible stairs.
