It’s official! Dani’s Queer Bar — a welcoming new space geared toward lesbians and nonbinary people — opened last Thursday, September 12, at 909 Boylston St. (across from Hynes Convention Center) in Boston’s Back Bay.

The bar has physically been in the works since spring of last year, according to an Instagram post from the business as well as an article from Boston Restaurant Talk.
Universal Hub reported last August that the Boston Licensing Board had approved the sale of the Pour House’s (the bar that formerly occupied the space for 34 years) liquor license to Dani’s Queer Bar.
Manager Thais Rocha told Instagram followers in July that the bar was “ready to go,” but that they were “at the mercy of our architect.”
“He’s kind of held us hostage in terms of what we need to move forward with all of our final permitting and things like that to get open,” Rocha said in a video. “Just been a lot of back-and-forth, so hopefully we’re able to wrap that up soon.”
Dani’s Queer Bar, which has been reported as being Boston’s first queer bar for women and non-binary LGBTQ+ community members, is a lesbian bar “that was created to provide a safe and inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate our identities and find a sense of belonging,” the business’ website reads.
Dani’s core audience is queer, sapphic women as well as transgender and non-binary members of the LGBTQ+ Community in Boston.
The bar plans on hosting weekly events, from drag shows to emo dance parties. Dani’s Queer Bar will be open Monday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
