Community Resource Initiative (CRI), the Massachusetts public health nonprofit leader in HIV and infectious disease programs, research and health access services, has appointed Randie Kutzen as its new Executive Director.
Kutzen served as Interim Executive Director from July 1, 2026, following the retirement of longtime Executive Director Julie Marston. Her appointment as Executive Director is effective September 14, 2026. Marston’s 37-year career helped shape HIV services, public health programs, and systems of care throughout Massachusetts.
During the transition, Kutzen ensured continuity of critical services while leading CRI through funding reductions, organizational restructuring, technology implementation, contract transitions, and strategic planning, positioning the organization for stability and future growth.
“Randie demonstrated the steady, mission-driven leadership CRI needed during this transition,” said Mark Giese, President of the CRI Board of Directors. “Through her operational leadership, deep commitment to the organization, and unwavering focus on the people and communities we serve, she has earned the trust of the Board, staff, community partners, and funders. We are excited to appoint her as Executive Director and look forward to CRI’s next chapter under her leadership.”
Kutzen has held senior leadership roles at CRI, including Deputy Executive Director of Operations and Program Director for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Infectious Disease Drug Assistance Program (IDDAP), which CRI administers. Her leadership portfolio spans operations, strategic planning, finance, human resources, technology, public health initiatives, and major government-funded contracts.

As CRI enters its next chapter, the organization remains focused on strengthening access to HIV care and prevention services, administering statewide public health programs, strengthening community partnerships, and improving access to lifesaving medications and insurance across Massachusetts.
