At a Pride kickoff event at Club Café on June 1, three short films will be screened in Club Café’s Moonshine Room. “The Bonds of Mothers and Their Gay Sons” is co-hosted by Gay Sons & Mothers and the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum of Art, History, & Culture, and the event features a talkback and a post-screening talk and reception.
All three films invite audiences to experience the special mother/gay son bond at a special screening that will be followed by a talkback led by Rick Miller, LICSW, founder and executive director of Gay Sons and Mothers. Following the talkback, Jean Dolin, executive director of the Boston LGBTQ+ Museum of Art, History, and Culture, will speak in the Napoleon Room, where complimentary snacks and beverages will be served.
Films screened include (with a total runtime of 55 minutes):
- Mom, I Have Something to Tell You (Rick Miller, director)
- Outed (Charlie Paulin, director)
- 302 Singapore (Leon Cheo, director)
“We’re excited to be in the company of such excellent films and most especially to be working with Jean Dolin,” says Rick Miller, founder and executive director of Gay Sons & Mothers, and the director/producer of Mom, I Have Something to Tell You. “And we’re especially excited to have Jean giving us a talk following the films. He’s a true visionary and a tireless activist, and I fully expect the evening to be inspirational.”
General admission is $25. More: Club Café
