With a grand opening for next month on the calendar, Rutland, Vermont is getting its first LGBTQ+ public space in decades once the finishing touches are put on the new Bailey’s Place bar.
Reports CBS WCAX-TV 3 of Rutland:
A new bar in Rutland is set to become the city’s first LGBTQ+ space in decades.
“Bailey’s Place” off Evelyn Street downtown is currently undergoing renovations. It’s nearing completion and set to open next month.
Rutland native and bar owner Faith McClure says the affinity space is much-needed in the Marble City.
“It’s not only good for the members of the community, LGBTQ+-wise, but also for those who live here, because think about it, this is going to be bringing people from all over, especially the younger crowd which we need more of around here. A lot of us are moving away, you know, we’re moreso of a drive-through state,” McClure said.
McClure says the bar is set to hold a grand opening on April 12 once it obtains a liquor license.
Says Bailey’s Place Facebook page:
