National Center for Lesbian Rights Legal Director Shannon Minter and GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defender Senior Director of Transgender & Queer Rights Jennifer Levi will be honored at GLAD’s annual Spirit of Justice Award Dinner in October.
The event returns for the 25th year to dazzle, inspire and connect the LGBTQ+ community. The gala unites supporters of LGBTQ+ legal rights and equality for an opportunity to find power in resistance; work toward a future of justice, love and inclusion; and support GLAD’s life-changing mission.
The celebration will be held in downtown Boston on Friday, October 25. The cocktail reception starts at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the speaking program beginning at 7 p.m., with dessert and drinks at 8:30 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit the event page at glad.org.
Minter and Levi are working frontline defenders of the LGBTQ community at a time when LGBTQ+ rights are increasingly threatened through legislation and in the courts. Individually and working in collaboration, they have been leaders of contemporary LGBTQ+ legal movement for decades, leading legal strategies to secure the civil rights of transgender people, successfully advocating for marriage equality and security for LGBTQ parents, establishing protections for LGBTQ+ youth, and advancing and defending nondiscrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community.
