The Big Queer Food Fest, celebrating local LGBTQ+ chefs and their businesses, made its Boston debut this past Sunday at High Street Place, and with some 400 attendees, it was a sell-out hit. Hosted by Boston’s own celebrity chef Tiffani Faison, the event was part of the BQFF On the Road series, with pop-up foodie fests taking place in cities across the US.
Reports Mass.Live.com:
“We are overwhelmed by the attendance and support that we’ve gotten for coming here to Boston,” BQFF David Lewis cofounder said during the Sunday night event.
“We founded this festival a year and a half ago, and have so far only held small events like ticketed dinners and intimate moments and it’s so great to come to Boston to be here with our friends, the chefs, and all of you to see how much support there is,” Lewis said.
Until Sunday night, BQFF had only hosted events on the West Coast including two in Los Angeles, one in West Hollywood and one in Guerneville.
Faison thought it was crucial that BQFF come to the East Coast, she convinced the event’s founders to bring the festival to Boston, creating full-circle moment as a result. …
Guests got to try samplings from multiple LGBTQ+ chefs including Ube panna cotta and Arancini bolognese to pork ribs and spicy shrimp po boys.
Beverages from SUPERGAY Spirits, Rhodium (Rhode Island Spirits), Provincetown Brewing, and Lalo Tequila also were available.
The night ended with a raffle, whose prizes included a gift card to High Street Place, dinners at some of the chefs’ restaurants, cookbooks, and more.
