World AIDS Day—a time for people around the world to unite and show support for those living with and affected by HIV and to remember those lost to AIDS—is officially observed on December 1, but more events continue through “Getting to Zero Week,” Dec. 1–8, encouraging ongoing awareness and effort to eradicate the virus from our own communities and across the globe.
Here are some events happening this week brought to you by Boston-based Fenway Health, one of the country’s leading care and research centers for LGBTQIA+ people:
PREP: A CALL TO ACTION — Tues., Dec. 5, 2–3:30 p.m. / Zoom panel discussion (see website below for accessing info) — Join Getting to Zero Massachusetts, Fenway Health, and partners as we host a conversation to address the state of PrEP in Massachusetts today, the role PrEP plays in ending the HIV epidemic, and the future of PrEP as tool of HIV prevention.
WORLD AIDS DAY Q&A Instagram Live Event — Wed., Dec 6, 6:30 p.m. / Frolic Instagram (see website below for accessing info) — Dr. Taimur Khan, Associate Medical Research Director and Andrew Camarena, Community Engagement Manager, join Frolic (@wearefrolic) for a World AIDS Day Q&A Instagram Live event on sexual health and sexual health services at Fenway Health.
GETTING TO ZERO Reception — Fri., Dec. 8, 6–9 p.m. / at Fenway Health (RSVP requested; see website below to RSVP) — Getting to Zero is a worldwide initiative dedicated to ending the HIV epidemic and achieving a future with zero new HIV diagnoses, zero stigma, and zero AIDS- related deaths. Since 2015, Fenway Health has led Getting to Zero efforts for the state of Massachusetts.
