With nearly 60 events, Spooky Bear Halloween Weekend in Provincetown is gearing up with a “monstrous medley” of parties, dances, a haunted trolley ride, costume balls and more. And it all starts today and spills into and well into the other side of this weekend, Oct. 25–31. For the full line up, check out ursamen.org or ptown.org.
It may be produced by the hirsute hunks of the Northeast Ursamen, but this annual series of Halloween happenings in Provincetown isn’t just for the bears. In fact, this year’s theme, “Beary Tunes,” encourages costumes inspired by all sorts of colorful cartoon characters—so if Yogi and Boo-Boo aren’t your bag, you could always slather on some body paint to go as a blue Smurf, a yellow SpongeBob, or a green Incredible Hulk.
However you decide to get costumed, you’ll find plenty of tricks and treats on P’town dance floors, at a “Bear-Mart” vendor fair at the Boatslip and at Provincetown Town Hall, where RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio will show off her trademark wit and undisguised insult comedy.
What’s more, this year’s beneficiary nonprofits are The Body Dysmorphic Disorder Foundation and the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown (SKIP), so all the fun also benefits these great causes.
