From “Naked” to “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” the works of American humorist David Sedaris have continually managed to amuse, engage and illuminate. What’s more, his self-deprecating style and openness in discussing life as a gay man have especially endeared him to LGBTQ audiences. We’ve been waiting a while for Sedaris’s latest, but he’s finally back with his first collection of original essays since 2018: “Happy-Go-Lucky.” It’s also his first work since COVID, and the pandemic era of shutdowns and quarantines provides a backdrop for Sedaris’s signature poignant musings on everything from the political (Trump 2024) to the personal (the loss of his father). He’ll cover it all when his national tour visits a handful of venues in New England.
