The BGMC never backs down in the face of controversy, as evident in their new documentary film, “Music Triumphs Homophobia,” which follows the chorus as it brings LGBTQ art to oppressive places around the world (See “Hit List” on page 8.). In fact, the group’s spring concert, “Born This Way,” features the world premiere of a new libretto, “A Peacock Among Pigeons,” based on the same-named children’s book that has been targeted by bans in Florida for its LGBTQ-inclusive message. Expect the 200-plus singers in the chorus to perform plenty of scandal-free songs in “Born This Way” as well, including Broadway favorites, contemporary pop hits, and other genre-spanning tunes that will leave audiences agog (and probably humming Lady Gaga).
