Former Boston Pride Board President Linda DeMarco, who was at the head of the 50-year-old organization when it suddenly shut down in 2021, has been named to the US Association of Prides‘ Hall of Fame at a USAP conference held this past weekend in Minneapolis. The honor recognized “her many years of leadership and service for our community at Boston Pride,” according to a USAP Facebook posting.
Ron De Harte, USAP co-president and president of Palm Springs Pride, also posted on the USAP Facebook page a video of photos showing DeMarco participating in many Boston Pride parades and related events over the years, and wrote, “Linda joined Boston Pride in 1998 as a festival coordinator and continues bringing business and finance expertise to the Board.”
USAP’s mission is to help “educate, advocate and empower our members to produce Pride events that help lift and empower the LGBTQ+ community.”
Boston Pride’s board shut the organization down in the summer of 2021. It remains to be seen how the former board has decided to redistribute the organization’s funds and other resources before the organization disbanded.
