With the Nov. 8 Midterm Elections around the corner, the Human Rights Campaign has released its Congressional Scorecard for Equality in the 117th Congress — and 19 of the 21 US Reps from New England states earned perfect scores of 100. Scores are based on legislators’ records of legislative support for LGBTQ+ people.
Download the report here to see what legislative opportunities your Congresspersons had to support LGBTQ+ people and to find out who supported which legislation, resolutions and other initiatives, and who did not.
Here are the results by state:
Massachusetts — Earning perfect scores of 100 are Reps Jim McGovern, Lori Trahan, Jake Auchincloss, Katherine Clark, Seth Mouton and Ayanna Pressley. Earning 98s are Richard Neal, Stephen Lynch and Bill Keating.
Connecticut — Reps John Larson, Joe Courtney, Jim Himes and Jahana Hayes each earned a score of 100. Rep Rosa DeLauro earned a 98.
Maine — Rep Chellie Pingree earned a perfect 100, with Rep Jared Golden coming in with a 90.
New Hampshire — Reps Chris Pappas and Ann McLane Kuster both earned 100s.

“We hope the 117th Congressional Scorecard will help you to stay informed on your elected officials’ records on key issues that impact the LGBTQ+ community,” said HRC Interim President Joni Madison in her introduction.
“We hope it serves as a valuable tool in holding your elected officials accountable in our shared effort toward achieving equity and equality for all,” Madison said.
