For their first in-person concert in two years, the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus turned to one of the biggest and most beloved music catalogues of all time: Disney’s. Forty-three selections from “The Little Mermaid,” “The Lion King,” “Mary Poppins,” and many more animated and live-action films, to be exact … all performed with a 25-piece orchestra and interspersed with personal stories and reflections. Disney recently came under fire, of course, for its loud silence about the now-passed “Don’t Say Gay Bill” in Florida, where the company holds great political sway. We’ll see if the BGMC addresses the controversy, but either way, we’re happy to be hearing the loud and proud voice of this music institution in Boston—and in person!—again.
