The Human Rights Campaign announced the 2022 list of “Best Places to Work” from its annual Corporate Equality Index, and 71 of them are in New England.
To earn a spot on the “Best Places” list, each must earn a perfect score of 100 on the Index, which rates each participating company’s workplace policies and practices for LGBTQ employees. Scoring criteria includes nondiscrimination, equitable benefits for workers and their families, support for inclusive culture and overall corporate social responsibility.
2022 marks HRC’s 20th annual Corporate Equality Index. This year, 842 businesses earned perfects marks — up from only 17 when they began scoring them in 2002.
Massachusetts was the frontrunner once again, with 47 “Best Places to Work” (out of 74 Bay State corps participating in the survey). Fifteen (out of 26) Connecticut companies earned scores of 100; Rhode Island came in with 6 perfect scores (out of 9); New Hampshire and Maine, 1 (of 2); and Vermont with 1 (of 1). Altogether, 114 New England companies participated in the survey.
