Today, December 1, is World AIDS Day. It’s a time when people around the world unite in support of people living with HIV, remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses and celebrate advances toward a cure. The AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod is observing the occasion with a series of events held today, Dec. 1, 2021, at their offices in Falmouth and Hyannis, and at the Provincetown AIDS Memorial.
Here’s the scoop from the ASGCC:
9am-10:30am in Falmouth — We will kick-off World AIDS Day in Falmouth (31 Teaticket Highway, East Falmouth) with an Open House to mark the first anniversary of our Falmouth office, including tours of the Mobile Outreach Van and our testing facilities, along with a meet & greet with the Falmouth team. Coffee, donuts, and other refreshments will be served.
11:30am-1pm in Hyannis — Enjoy pizza and refreshments at our Hyannis office ((428 South Street, Hyannis) during lunch hour! All are invited to meet our staff, learn more about ASGCC’s services, and tour the Mobile Outreach Van.
4:30pm in Provincetown — Please join us for a candlelight vigil in commemoration of World AIDS Day. All are invited to participate at the Provincetown AIDS Memorial (260 Commercial Street on the grounds of Town Hall). We’ll hear from several speakers, including the Rev. Kate Wilkinson from the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House of Provincetown. Following the vigil, attendees are welcome to enjoy some apple cider and cookies made by Chef Dan and his team. The Mobile Outreach Van will also be onsite.
RSVPs are not required, however we ask that those in attendance to be vaccinated. As these events will be held largely outdoors, masks are optional when you are able to social distance. During tours of our facilities or the Mobile Outreach Van, masks should be worn.
