More than 500 supporters raised over $360,000 at Boston’s 2021 AIDS Walk & Run last Sunday, Sept. 26. And it’s not too late to donate more to the organizing nonprofits, Fenway Health and AIDS Action, to help them provide care and services to those living with HIV and to prevent new infections; you can still donate through Sept. 30 at walk.aac.org, to help them hit a goal of $15,000 more.
For this 36th year, the AIDS Walk & Run Boston moved to a new autumn date and location at DCR’s Carson Beach in South Boston. It was a day of celebration, featuring the Walk/Run, followed by performances, food and fun for all ages. Not to be deterred by COVID, participants, masked and in-person, joined virtual walkers, adopting a hybrid model to make this annual major fundraising event a success.
The organizers send thanks to Genie Santiago “for putting on a terrific show!” And to all AIDS Walk & Run performers, including CARAMELO Boston, Just JP!, Sham Payne, Sasha Stone, and Weird Autumn. Plus “a special ‘thank you’ to Provincetown artist Jay Critchley for being on hand with Prayer Ribbons to commemorate the lives lost to HIV/AIDS and anti-LGBTQIA+ violence.”
Every year, hundreds of all ages walk, run and otherwise participate to support Boston’s Fenway Health and AIDS Action’s essential programs and services to support those living with and at risk of contracting HIV as they work to get to zero new infections in Massachusetts. Find out more at aac.org.
