A virtual interactive event for GLAD’s 40th annual Summer Party has been scheduled for this Wednesday, August 11, at 5 p.m. GLAD (GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders) had to move online its live annual summer festivities, originally scheduled for late July in Provincetown, after the recent increase in COVID 19 cases.
At Wednesday’s virtual event, you can still share in the celebration of recent victories, talk about the work ahead, win big at the live auction and commemorate the powerful work of this year’s honoree, the Soup Kitchen in Provincetown.

“Our community was hit hard by the pandemic,” said SKIP Board Chair Philip Franchini. “The SKIP team rose to the challenge and continued to prepare daily meals, with extra on Fridays to help our guests get through the weekends. We put a wide range of safety protocols in place, and we distributed our meals outdoors, placing them in car trunks or handing them to those who arrived by bike or on foot.”
“There’s a nice synergy in this honor,” Franchini added. “Just like GLAD, SKIP has been about diversity and inclusion since our founding in 1992. We are open to all and never charge a cent.”
