Police in Wenham, Massachusetts are investigating two Pride flags that went missing earlier this month from the First Church in Wenham and the Wenham Museum. The town’s PD was already investigating another Pride flag previously stolen from the First Church back in May, according to the Boston Globe.
“There simply is no place for any activity of this type in Wenham, and we stand with the LGBTQ members of our community,” Police Chief Kevin DiNapoli told the Globe, which reports:
The First Church in Wenham reported their flag was cut off, while the Wenham Museum reported their flag was torn down.
The Wenham Museum is located on Main Street while the First Church in Wenham is around the corner on Arbor Street. The two locations are less than 350 feet apart.
“This doesn’t really reflect the values of Wenham or our organization,” Executive Director of Wenham Museum Kristin Noon told WBZ Radio. “We would so much rather have a conversation, and we’re saddened.”
WBZ Radio also reported DiNapoli said there is not enough information yet to investigate the thefts as hate crimes.
Police asked anyone with information regarding the incident to please call 978-468-4000.
