Though many Pride parades and festivals are postponed again this year, June is still officially Pride month, and all over New England the Pride flags are coming out. In Salem, Massachusetts, Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, local officials and community groups are kicking off Pride month with their Pride flag-raising ceremony starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, in Riley Plaza, in front of the Salem Post Office.
While flag-raising ceremonies in other communities are scheduled as virtual events (though check to see if that changes as COVID restrictions are lifted), Salem’s event is open to the public. The ceremony also includes a brief speaking program.

Salem resident and LGBTQ activist Gary “Gigi” Gill, on Thursday, June 3rd, will continue this tradition and Mayor Driscoll invites the Salem and North Shore community to come together to help raise the flags and celebrate Salem’s proud diversity.
