TikTok star and Waterville, Maine resident Rochelle Hager, known on the platform as “Roe,” was killed last week when high winds slammed a large tree branch directly onto her Nissan Rogue as she was driving through Farmington. The branch also took down power lines and a utility pole.
Roe, a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community and people with addictions and in recovery, had well over 150,000 followers on her TikTok profile, Roeurboat3.
Reports the Kennebec Journal:
Hager, 31, was engaged to the love of her life, Brittanie Lynn Ritchie.
“We were getting married Oct. 16 — we had already gotten the venue and photographer and everything,” Ritchie said Tuesday.
Ritchie, 28, said she was talking with Hager by cell phone when the crash occurred Monday as Hager was driving south just before 10 a.m. on Knowlton Corner Road in Farmington. A pine tree limb crashed onto the roof of Hager’s 2015 Nissan Rogue, killing her instantly.
“It happened really quick,” Ritchie said. “She has a phone mounted in her vent. I just heard a crash and then there was nothing. She didn’t see the tree coming. It was instant.”
Reports Out.com:
She and Ritchie often collaborated on videos as Ritchie and Roe, sharing details of the relationship and life together. Hager also used her platform to advocate on behalf of addiction survivors.
“She was a huge advocate for addiction and she survived it and was clean for over 10 years,” Ritchie revealed.
“We were getting married October 16,” Ritchie said. “We had already gotten the venue and photographer and everything.”
She went on to say that Hager was “all about positive and making people laugh,” adding “she was that kind of person.”
