Take a big-brimmed hat out of your closet and mix up a mint julep to sip. This year, the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus will stampede across the stage of Arlington’s Regent Theater for a derby-inspired installment of “Encore,” its annual concert and major fundraising gala. The 2021 performance, as well as a prize-packed live auction, will be live-streamed to audience members so they can enjoy the music—including poppy cover tunes from the Boy Band Project—in the comfort of home. In fact, the BGMC will even help you decorate by dropping off “Pod Packs” filled with noisemakers, confetti and other trimmings, as well as family-style dinners of deviled eggs, creamy chicken with mushrooms, mini bourbon cheesecakes and more. There’ll also be a hat contest among virtual attendees, ensuring that even this physically distanced “Encore” will find ways to bring us together again.
