Following MassEquality‘s recent move to Worcester as part of their mission to better serve every region of the Commonwealth, the Bay State LGBTQ grassroots advocacy group is holding a series of town hall meetings across Massachusetts starting this month.
“These forums will center the work of local LGBTQ+ activists and organizations, while allowing MassEquality to listen and learn from the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people across the Commonwealth,” states a recent MassEquality press release.
And MassEquality is doing this by partnering with local LGBTQ+ organizations and activists across the Commonwealth. In the works are town halls in Berkshire County, Northern Worcester County, Merrimack Valley and the South Shore.
The series kicks off with an event in Northern Worcester County on March 10, partnering with NoWoCo Pride. Next up, an event in the Berkshires with the Live Out Loud Conference on March 18. After that, a South Shore event, cohosted by Quincy Pride on March 24.

“While legal equality has been largely achieved, the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people across the Commonwealth are far from equal. There is an even greater gap between legal equality and lived equality for BIPOC, Trans and gender non-conforming (GNC) individuals in the community,” says the release.
“With its new focus on communities outside of Boston, MassEquality seeks to ensure that all 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts are equally welcoming to and safe for members of the LGBTQ+ community regardless of their racial identity, age, gender identity, or ability level.”
