Part-time Provincetown resident and openly gay TV show creator and producer extraordinaire Ryan Murphy has been cleared by P’town board of selectmen to begin shooting what is thought to be the next season of “American Horror Story” next month in 19 town locations.
Reports the Provincetown Banner:
The board unanimously voted to allow Interim Town Manager Charlie Sumner to finalize a location agreement with the studios during a Jan. 11 board meeting. Sumner stated during that meeting that the project is only known to the town as “Pilgrim.”
“Beyond that they haven’t given us any more definition on the nature of the film,” Sumner said.
Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed as “American Horror Story,” showrunner Ryan Murphy — who owns a house in Provincetown — has dropped several hints that the show would be filmed in Provincetown with a star-studded cast of actors such as Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Macaulay Culkin, Leslie Grossman, Adina Porter, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe.
The company will likely come to town at the end of January and film from Feb. 1 to March 6, with a cast and crew of about 100 people. No actors were listed in the application.
Even though Sumner didn’t confirm the production was “American Horror Story,” a few board members spoke candidly, also assuming the project was for filming the 10th season.
