Normally the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective’s signature annual gala is a night of dinner, dancing, cocktail-drinking and DJ-soundtracked boogying that raises vital funds for the multifaceted organization, which offers an array of important services: from HIV testing to health education outreach to support groups for LGBTQ youth. This year, obviously, will be a little different. But take the opportunity to change out of work-from-home sweatpants and into something a little snazzier—and log on to this year’s virtual version of “One Big Event.” Expect a special appearance by campy queen Varla Jean Merman, as well as silent and live auctions including prizes like a Provincetown escape.
