One of the favorite fund-raising fêtes of the summer, the GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) may be moving online this year due to COVID-19, but its festivities promise to be fun, featuring a line-up of entertainers, and the cause is important as ever.
This year’s event starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, and individual tickets are free.
Varla Jean Merman hosts, and this year’s honoree will be Stonewall Uprising veteran Paul Glass, recognized for his extraordinary commitment to social justice. There will also be celebrity performances and the event’s signature silent auction with its fabulous items for bid, all proceeds going to support GLAD’s vital work.
Celebrity performers include Ashley Gavin, Big Freedia, Christine Dwyer, Emma Willmann, Gerald Goode, July Gold, Kit Yan, Matt Deangelis, Parson James and Spencer Ludwig.
Since 1978, GLAD’s litigation has achieved scores of precedent-setting victories on behalf of LGBTQ people and those living with HIV, and they continue to fight the good fight for our rights in critical cases today.
To reserve a spot for this free event, or become a sponsor (which also gets you a “Summer Party in a Box” mailed to your home), or just make a donation to help GLAD do its work during this especially tough time), go to the organization’s event web page.
