White Mountains Pride Week and The White Mountains Pride Festival were just picking up momentum last year after their volunteer-based committee got going in 2018. Then the pandemic came along. But the North Conway–based group isn’t letting COVID-19 slow it down in 2020 — like Prides throughout New England and around the world this year, they’re taking their regional celebrations of diversity and inclusion online.
“We have brought together a diverse group of entertainers from last year to perform again for our community to celebrate, educate and help foster acceptance of all people,” Greg Vander Veer, chair of the entertainment committee said in a press release announcing those entertainers in their virtual 2020 Pride line-up:
Friday June 5, 2020 at 7:00 pm — Lady Vanessa and Mimi Malevolent will appear in a virtual drag show on White Mountains Pride Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/whitemountainspride/). Join in the fun as they perform for you!
Saturday June 6, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. — Local artist Riley Parkhurst will appear on White Mountains Pride Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/whitemountainspride/) doing a livestream event where Riley will play music that was important or influential for the LGBTQ+ community through history. Riley will also describe how music has shaped the voice of the community.
Saturday June 13, 2020 at 7:00 p.m/ — New Fame will appear on White Mountains Pride Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/whitemountainspride/) doing a livestream event. Adrienne Mack-Davis and feleciacruz will use their superpowers to entertain and inspire those who participate in the live stream.
Saturday June 20, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. — Reverend Yolanda will appear on White Mountains Pride Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/whitemountainspride/) doing a livestream event. An uplifting, inspirational mini concert from Rev.Yolanda’s latest EP: YolandaNanda. This concert will feature mantras (in both English and Gurumuki), stories and anecdotes intended to extend peace from her mind and heart to yours.
And on June 27, 2020, White Mountains Pride will be participating in Global Pride 2020, where Pride organizations from around the world are pooling their resources to provide the first ever virtual world Pride with many performances being offered throughout the day at http://www.globalpride2020.org/ and on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/2486475548333033/
In addition, White Mountains Pride is asking all of the community to share why Pride is important to them. White Mountains Pride will be posting videos and photos provided by Board members, community members, sponsors and supporters throughout the month of June.
