Much of the work of the Fenway Institute at Boston’s Fenway Health aims to make a major difference for the health and well-being of LGBTQ people not only in New England but all over the US.
And the Institute has just received a $1.9 million award from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care toward the ongoing work of its National LGBT Health Education Center.
‘We are honored to continue providing national training and technical assistance in partnership with HRSA’s Bureau of Primary Health Care, focused on improving care for LGBTQIA+ communities at 1,400 federally qualified health centers,” said Alex Keuroghlian, MD, MPH, director of education and training programs at The Fenway Institute. “This work is more important now than ever.”
In addition to this award, HRSA will fund an additional COVID-19 supplement starting this summer. This supplement will be used by the National LGBT Health Education Center to provide training and technical assistance across the US health center program for serving LGBTQIA+ patients during the pandemic.
The National LGBT Health Education Center provides educational programs, resources, and consultation to health care organizations with the goal of optimizing quality, cost-effective health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and all sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) people.
