The City of Framingham will raise the Pride flag over City Hall for the second year on June 1, though there will be no live public gathering to commemorate it due to social-distancing precautions.
What’s more, City Hall will be illuminated each week in June with a different color in the rainbow flag to honor LGBTQ+ Pride month.
“Raising the Pride Flag on June 1 and lighting City Hall is to recognize the enduring efforts and ongoing contributions of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer members of our community,” states a city press-release announcement.
Meanwhile, Prides all over New England are going viral or finding other creative ways to mark Pride month. For example, Boston Pride‘s emerging line-up will also will include a virtual flag raising at Boston City Hall plus a virtual Pride Lights, a documentary film series with the Boston Globe, author talks with the Boston Public Library, cooking classes, dance classes, a discussion on the history of Boston Pride, and a virtual festival and concert, with more to come.
And the City of Northampton celebrated NoHo Pride with locally crowd-sourced video back on May 2; you can still tune in and feel the love finding the video celebration here video online here.
So check out your local Pride’s websites or Facebook pages for announcements of what they may be doing to mark or otherwise virtually celebrate Pride month.
Also in Framingham, the spirit of Pride carries on at the LGBTQ youth-supporting nonprofit OUT MetroWest, where, since March, online sessions have virtually replaced in-person meetings. These include their drop-in sessions, WAGLY and Umbrella meetings.
