Boston Pride announced today that all of its remaining meetings and events scheduled this month and through April will either be held online as virtual gatherings, or will be postponed or canceled.
“As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, the health, safety, and wellbeing of the LGBTQ community is Boston Pride’s highest priority. Boston Pride collaborates with many other major Pride organizers and is committed to following the guidelines and recommendations by the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts,” stated a press release from the Boston Pride Committee.
The status of Boston Pride 2020 events moving into May and June will be determined, and an update delivered, “when that information is available to us” from state and local authorities, according to the press release.
“Be assured that our commitment to the community will not fade because of this virus. Boston Pride’s 50th anniversary will be commemorating the heritage of Pride: celebrating social, legal, and political successes, and our culture and community—while continuing to work for social justice and human rights,” reads the release.
“These are challenging times for many, and Boston Pride is particularly concerned with the status of our LGBTQ seniors, youth, and other vulnerable members of our community. We included some resources we hope you will find helpful. You are all in our thoughts and we know that together, we can stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community and allies.”
